THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a critical function of the public housing system.
The Housing Appeals Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Housing Appeals Office. The Office provides public housing renters and other applicants with an independent, internal review of Departmental decisions relating to the provision of housing services, making sure that the Department's housing guidelines and procedures have been applied correctly, and applicants have been treated fairly.
The successful candidate will be an excellent people leader and must be able to work autonomously, exercising sound judgment and identifying and escalating risks and issues where necessary. Excellent drafting skills, and the ability to convey complex information in a clear and succinct manner are essential requirements for this role.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
* Lead and oversee the delivery of the housing appeals function including the timely and effective assessment of appeals, communication with clients and housing colleagues regarding the status of appeals and outcomes, monitoring and reporting, and sharing of key insights and lessons learned.
* Prepare comprehensive appeals reports, including identifying high priority issues and trends, risks, and areas for improvement in the delivery of housing services, and present to senior leaders where required.
* Design, develop and implement business improvement initiatives to improve the Housing Appeals process including consideration of better practice, Ombudsman Investigations and other external reports relevant to the administration and management of an effective and contemporary Appeals function.
