At our Puckapunyal Child Care Centre, we are committed to providing high-quality care and educational experiences for children. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Manager / 2IC to join our dedicated team. One Tree Defence Unit Puckapunyal located near Seymour in Regional Victoria, is committed to providing an enriching and nurturing environment where children thrive. We adhere to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), focusing on delivering high-quality educational programs that foster holistic development. We have placements for 86 children across our long day care. We have several rooms including pre kinder, nursery, toddler room, preschool and outside of school hours care. Our operating hours are 7 am to 6 pm.
About the Role:
As the Assistant Manager / 2IC, you will work closely with the Centre Director to ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day operation of the service. You will be a key leader, supporting staff, engaging with families, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards. T his position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills and a passion for early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Communication: Provide strong leadership and direction to reporting staff, fostering a positive work environment. Act as a role model for communication and conflict management.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Facilitate and support creative solutions to challenges, ensuring a positive experience for children, families, and staff.
  • Independent Work: Be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently to manage daily operations.
  • Family & Community Partnerships: Actively create and maintain strong partnerships with families, staff, and the broader community.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of the Children’s Services Regulations, Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and National Quality Standards (NQS).
  • Staff Supervision: Provide supervision, guidance, and support to staff, ensuring adherence to One Tree’s operational standards.
  • Workplace Health & Safety: Oversee and ensure the workplace operates within WHS requirements, maintaining the highest standards of care for children and families.
  • Responsible Person: Act as the Responsible Person when required, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Qualifications: A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a 2IC or similar leadership role within a childcare setting.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Passion: A commitment to providing high-quality education and care for children, with a focus on community engagement and family partnerships.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and Children’s Services Regulations.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
