About VMCH Green Team

Green Team is a social enterprise designed to get people started in the gardening industry. A program of on-the-job training and hands-on experience has been designed with the intent at its conclusion of providing the means for participants to work successfully in mainstream employment. This is a full-time position Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm reports to the Team Leader – Green Team.

About the role

VMCH Green Team is seeking the services of an enthusiastic person who has a passion for gardens while mentoring and skill developing people with a disability. You will be working with a supportive team that is looking to encourage long term career development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and skill development of our participants
  • Mowing and edging of lawn areas, seasonal and regular pruning
  • Application of herbicide, insecticide, and fertilizer
  • Soft landscaping works as needed: planting, mulching and irrigation repairs.
  • Capacity to work with individuals from all backgrounds, ages and of varying ability.
  • Personal qualities of empathy, compassion, patience, and integrity.

About you

Experience and Qualifications

  • Knowledge and interest in gardening maintenance
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check – or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid full Victorian Drivers Licence

Highly regarded but not necessary

  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Certificate IV Disability, Individual Support or Community sector

Skills And Abilities

  • Be physically fit and able to undertake manual duties.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Working as part of a team as well as independently
  • Good communication skills
  • An interest in mentoring
  • Take pride in your work.
