The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia’s highest-grade copper mine.
The CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team on a 2-year fixed term contract. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in underground mining operations, particularly in copper. You will be responsible for overseeing daily mining activities, and maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily underground mining operations.
- Ensure all mining activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of miners and operators, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on production performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with technical teams, including geologists and engineers, to optimize mining plans and schedules.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including production reports and safety documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Significant experience in underground mining, with experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of underground mining techniques, particularly in copper mining.
- A solid understanding of Australian mining regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to motivate and manage teams.
- NSW Mine Supervisor Certificate/Ticket
- Proficiency in mining software and systems is an advantage.
Conditions:
This position is a 2-year fixed term contract, offered on a drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) basis from Sydney or Brisbane on a 14/14 roster.
