Description:

The Project Officer supports the MSQ Program and works with the Manager and Senior Project Officers of MSQ to support the development and implementation of resources and initiatives to promote the safe and quality use of medicines in the Australian health system. This work involves organising and providing secretariat support for operational and program committees, assisting with planning and logistics for events such as the National Medicines Symposium, assisting with helpdesk customer activities, supporting procurement and contract management, and analysing information and providing project support. The role will also support the revision of the Medication Safety Standard as part of the third edition of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
The key duties of the position include
Duties of the Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Undertake project management activities including input into project and event planning and documentation; assistance with implementation; monitoring and reporting on progress, identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.
  2. Research, review and analyse data, reports, published material and expert opinion to provide information and advice to support the development of projects and program initiatives.
  3. Provide secretariat support for committees and expert groups, including preparation of agenda papers, meeting notes, logistics and other administrative tasks.
  4. Collaborate with other team members and other program teams within the Commission to support the work of the team and the achievement of the Work Plan and other designated projects.
  5. Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and other documents for a range of audiences on complex healthcare issues.
  6. Keep knowledge of strategic and clinical issues current and investigate how they may be addressed by the Commission.
  7. Undertake procurement and contract management activities including financial administration and budget preparation and monitoring.
  8. Provide customer service and technical support to consumers and health professionals with enquiries via phone and email for the MSQ Program.
  9. Under direction, liaise with national and state authorities, professional organisations, individuals, government and non-government organisations to progress the program's work priorities.
  10. Other duties as required which may include projects and providing assistance to the Commission's corporate functions, such as assistance with reception duties.
