Role Overview
Gympie Regional Council currently has a full-time permanent opportunity for a Coordinator Rik Management and Governance. The purpose of this role is to provide specialist advice and contribution to and oversight of, Council’s Risk Management and Governance systems, to assist with ensuring legislative and standards requirements continue to be met.
The scope of the position is varied and includes responsibilities associated with risk management, internal audit, coordination of Council’s Audit and Risk Management Committee, business continuity planning, internal investigations and Administrative Action Complaints. Oversight and contribution to effective WH&S, public safety and insurance management also forms part of the position.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Contributes to ensuring the Gympie Regional Council maintains appropriate governance and risk management systems, (including compliant supporting policy and procedures).
- Coordination of Council functions associated with risk management, internal audit and the operation of the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Coordination of Council functions associated with business continuity planning.
- Cross Directorate responsibility for Councils insurance and claims management function.
- Contribution to effective WH&S, public safety and insurance management for Council.
- Drive the regular review and reporting of Council’s Strategic and Operational Risks as contained in supporting registers.
- Undertake targeted reviews, investigations or information gathering requirements as requested by the CEO or Manager Governance, Integrity and Risk including oversight of the administration of Administrative Action Complaints.
- To monitor and assist with the implementation and ongoing management of appropriate risk mitigation actions, with regular reporting to the Executive Leadership Team.
- To partner with Council’s directorates and work groups in adopting a risk management business approach.
- Develop relationships and actively contribute as Council’s representative in relevant Local Government networking activities.
- Manage applicable policy, procedure and KPI development.
- Manage the Governance functions in the Office of the CEO when the Manager Governance, Integrity and Risk is performing the disaster management function of Deputy Local Disaster Coordinator and/or other disaster management response coordination.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a risk management or internal audit role with experience in modern risk management and governance principles and practices.
- WH&S, public safety and project management oversight experience.
- Qualifications in a related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to maintain independence, professional standards and objectivity in completing assigned tasks, along with a high level of confidentiality, ethical standards and discretion.
- Demonstrated experience in the use and auditing of Corporate Computer Systems including Finance, Record Management, Customer Request, Human Resources and the use of the MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consultancy advice to both internal and external customers using highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence or above that is current and maintained.
