About You
You're an experienced journalist with a strong focus on digital and multi-platform storytelling and in particular the issues that affect the interest of the diverse local audience. You will have initiative, drive and be a strong team player.
This is a great opportunity to utilise your skills, knowledge and experience in journalism, to deliver high quality content.
Karratha
You’ll have heard about the Pilbara, the powerhouse of the Australian economy, its energy and its raw beauty. You’ll have seen footage of the huge ore trains, ports and ships, of the salt ponds, salt pans, its remote deserts and cattle stations, the whale sharks, turtles, and azure blue waters. You may know we have not one, but TWO world heritage sites in our region –it really is all here.
The bureau is in Karratha, a city like no other in WA: modern, open, bright, bustling and safe. We are near the Dampier Archipelago and its world class fishing, boating and diving, and an easy drive to beautiful National Parks with ancient rock art, natural camping spots and waterholes in the sweeping vastness of our country.
The ABC is all about Australian communities and their conversations. Our teams create unique and distinctive content that connect communities and shape lives in metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. From our eight capital city radio stations, our forty four regional bureaux, through to screen, live events and sport, Regional & Local is about real people, real places and real life. If you’ve learned the ropes and are ready to live the regional dream, why not join us in the beautiful Pilbara?
We would love to see your work. Please submit material with your application online (include examples, links to websites or attach audio/video files up to 5MB).
