At Water Corporation, sustainability and cultural connection are at the heart of our Waterwise Schools program engaging over 40,000 school students every year in Perth metro area. Now, we’re expanding this initiative to inspire regional students and their communities across Western Australia.


As the Aboriginal School Education Senior Advisor, you will lead the co-design and delivery of regional programs that merge the key themes of water supply and water conservation with Aboriginal peoples’ connection to water, land, and language.

A vital part of your role will be delivering professional development for teachers, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to teach water sustainability within their schools.

Collaborating with Elders, Aboriginal Corporations, and regional educators, you will bring cultural stories and local water systems into focus, creating curriculum aligned content that is both meaningful and impactful for regional schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of the Waterwise Schools Program for regional WA, integrating Aboriginal cultural knowledge with water education.
  • Create curriculum aligned classroom lesson plans
  • Collaborate with Elders, Aboriginal Corporations, and regional schools to gather local cultural and water stories, incorporating them into curriculum-aligned, co-designed learning materials.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with schools, educators, and communities to ensure the successful implementation of the program.
  • Co-ordinate cultural research in partnership with Aboriginal Corporations and University research to enhance program resources.
  • Represent Water Corporation at regional sustainability expos, teacher training sessions, and community events.
  • Design and deliver professional development for teachers and educators across regional Western Australia

Your Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience in developing and delivering education programs in a school environment, including providing professional development for teachers.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, societies, and the issues affecting these communities and a proven ability to engage and communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Demonstrated project and program management skills, including the ability to implement processes to facilitate monitoring, reporting and successful delivery and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with high organisational and planning skills
  • Well developed knowledge and capability relating to education providers, pedagogy, and best practice education strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education. Experience in two way science education is advantageous.

Valid Working with Children Check, Police Clearance and WA drivers’ licence will be required.

Occasional out of hours/weekend work is required for this role in addition to some regional travel within WA.
