Baldivis Gardens Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and dedicated Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and collaborate well with classroom teachers to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They will be required to work under general supervision, following teacher directions and documented plans and providing feedback. At times, they will work autonomously and be required to contribute advice and expertise, actively collaborating with colleagues to support student and whole school achievement.
High expectations will be placed on applicants who will work in an environment characterised by whole school approaches, a strong commitment to professional learning, working in teams and accepting leadership roles and responsibilities. Applicants should display a commitment to building positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community and should possess a willingness to provide assistance to teachers of students with a variety of disabilities and/or learning needs. Experience with challenging behaviour, Autism Spectrum Disorder - both verbal and non-speaking, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and trauma would be highly desirable. Team teach, hoist training and experience in PEG feeding is beneficial.

A CV of up to two (2) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
