Want to know what it’s like to work in Allied Health in a large a public hospital service?
The Allied Health Work Experience Program at Alfred Health will give you the opportunity to observe what it is like to work in Allied Health. Allied Health Professionals are qualified health care professionals in areas such as Art Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Disability Liaison Officers, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthoptics, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Psychology, Social Work, Speech Pathology & Language Services, and Spiritual Care, as well as Allied Health Assistants.
What might you see/experience?
- Patients being assessed and receiving therapy in the hospital wards following surgery or illness
- The multidisciplinary healthcare team working together to enable patients to be discharged safely from hospital
- Patients being seen in specialised outpatient clinics or via telehealth
- Patients being fitted for a splint or with equipment to help them regain their independence
The Allied Health Work Experience Program will be based at one of the Alfred Health main sites (Alfred, Caulfield or Sandringham Hospitals) with opportunities to spend time rotating across different Allied Health teams and areas.
By the end of the Program you will have a good understanding of what Allied Health professionals do and will have observed what it is like to work in one of Australia’s largest public health organisations. We hope this experience will inspire you to become a healthcare professional and make a positive impact in your community.
