Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Allied Health Professional Education Lead to join the Allied Health Education team.

About Northern Health:

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role
The Allied Health Professional Education Lead is responsible for leading the design, coordination, facilitation, evaluation and continuous improvement of Allied Health (AH) education programs across Northern Health. The role will lead provision of responsive, evidence-based, interdisciplinary education and training opportunities to AH learners across the career continuum.

This position(s) will provide strategic direction and leadership to build a robust workplace-based teaching and training framework that will support the clinical skill development of AH learners across the career continuum. The role(s) will also actively contribute to the development of interprofessional training programs that support AH learner development addressing a broad range of career aligned needs.

The role(s) will provide line management, supervision and support to Grade 3 Allied Health Clinical Educator roles and will contribute to establishment of a clear pathway for AH staff interested in pursuing a career in clinical education.

A core component of this role(s) will be collaborating with AH stakeholders (leaders and clinicians) to deliver relevant and educationally robust education and training. Collaborative co-design of resources and programs will be a key tenet of the successful performance of this role.

The position(s) will be actively involved in the Allied Health Education leadership team, the operations of the broader Allied Health Education team and the Allied Health Division through involvement in relevant committees, research and quality improvement activities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Professional allied health qualifications and eligible for membership of relevant association or registration.
  • Post graduate qualifications in education, management or relevant health discipline or evidence of an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication, project management and coordination skills, and a proven commitment to working collaboratively to promote evidence-based education to learners.
  • Experience and understanding of the contemporary public health context and implications for the education and training of the AH workforce.
  • Substantial experience planning and delivering clinical skills training across a range of modalities.
  • Experience leading complex education programs across a large organisation with a diverse learner cohort.
  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of the application of adult learning principles in the design of education programs.
  • Demonstrable experience in facilitating, evaluating and continuously improving education programs.
  • Experience in the development and practical implementation of frameworks and other resources (i.e CCC framework, VAHCSF, AH Careers Blueprint).
