The Role
We are seeking an Allied Health Program Coordinator to support and strengthen the rural and regional allied health workforce in Victoria. This role is responsible for developing strategic partnerships, supporting workforce planning initiatives, and enhancing the contributions of rural allied health professionals in primary healthcare.
The position requires a strong understanding of the rural health sector, allied health workforce challenges, and policy drivers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent stakeholder engagement and project management skills, be comfortable working in uncertain and dynamic environments, and be able to take initiative while balancing multiple priorities.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Melbourne. Candidates based in rural or regional Victoria who are able to travel to Melbourne will be considered. The role involves a mix of strategic project work and direct engagement with stakeholders, with some travel required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen relationships with rural allied health practitioners, peak bodies, professional associations, and health services.
- Engage stakeholders to enhance the profile, availability, and provision of allied health services in rural Victoria.
- Lead strategic initiatives to support workforce planning, recruitment, and retention in rural and regional areas.
- Provide subject matter expertise to inform RWAV’s strategic planning and workforce support initiatives.
- Oversee the delivery of allied health-related grants, ensuring alignment with government reporting and auditing requirements.
- Coordinate and provide secretariat support for the RWAV Allied Health Stakeholder Group.
- Craft policy submissions, deliver reporting, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
- Identify research partnerships and opportunities aligned with RWAV’s strategic goals.
- Work collaboratively while knowing when to act independently and take initiative.
- Undertake other duties as required to support RWAV’s priorities and funded programs.
Key Selection Criteria – Essential
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in public health, business management, project management, or a related field.
- Strong project management experience, including the ability to oversee programs independently.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a proven track record in developing strategic partnerships.
- Sound understanding of rural and regional allied health workforce challenges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience drafting reports, policy submissions, and program evaluations.
- High-level computing skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also knowing when to act independently.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple, sometimes ambiguous, priorities.
Key Selection Criteria – Preferable
- Experience working in rural and regional Victoria.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial procedures.
- Clinical background in allied health (advantageous but not required).
