About the role

We are seeking an APQP Engineer in Murarrie, Brisbane, to drive quality assurance and risk management for existing products. Reporting to the Head of Sustaining Engineering, this role enhances manufacturing processes, compliance, and continuous improvement while collaborating across engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Apply APQP principles for risk-based quality planning in existing and legacy products.

• Optimize DFM/DFA requirements to enhance manufacturability, serviceability, and quality.

• Develop and maintain Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, and MSA.

• Ensure FAI and part qualification processes are executed between Quality and suppliers.

• Manage the Alternate Component Review process to address component obsolescence and supply shortages.

• Review and analyze field and production performance data to generate data-driven insights, proactively address critical issues, and monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions.

• Use structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, RCA) to resolve field and production issues.

• Ensure compliance with PPAP, ISO 9001, and regulatory standards, supporting audits.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain quality, train teams, and escalate risks.

• Support ECM and VAVE initiatives to improve product reliability and cost-effectiveness.

About you

• Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field

• 3-5 years of experience in APQP, PPAP, and quality engineering in a manufacturing environment

• Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plan development

• Experience with DFM/DFA principles and quality planning for manufacturing and assembly

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and regulatory compliance, including process validation and documentation

• Proficiency in quality management software (Minitab, JMP, or equivalent) and statistical analysis

• Strong problem-solving skills using root cause analysis methodologies

• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

• Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator with a proactive, customer-focused mindset

Highly desirable:

• Project ownership and engineering experience in high-volume manufacturing and supplier quality management

• Proficiency in project planning, workflow tools (JIRA, MS Project), and Lean Six Sigma methodologies

• Ability to coach teams in quality practices and collaborate in multi-disciplinary engineering environments

• Experience with CAD (SolidWorks), PLM (Windchill), GD&T principles, and drafting standards (AS 1100)
