About the role

We are now hiring an Electronics/Mechatronics Engineer in Murarrie, Brisbane, reporting to the Head of Sustaining Engineering. This role ensures product reliability and optimizes production efficiency through design, development, and verification of electronic and electro-mechanical systems. Responsibilities include PCB design, compliance testing, field servicing, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability across global operations.

To Be Successful in This Role:

You will need a strong foundation in electronics engineering, with proven experience managing complex projects from concept to completion. Proficiency in DFM/DFA/DFS principles, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines are essential. Experience in fast-paced, innovative environments, along with the ability to balance competing priorities, will set you apart.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Investigate and resolve production and field-related non-conformances (NCRs) using FMEA and 8D root cause analysis.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies.

• Design and develop electronic/mechatronic components and systems for EV charging technology.

• Ensure backward compatibility, standardization, and seamless integration of electronic components using DFM/DFA/DFS principles.

• Prototype, test, and validate solutions through simulations, modeling, lab testing, and real-time field trials.

• Maintain compliance with engineering and regulatory standards (UL, CSA, IEC, CE) and assist with certification processes.

• Gather and document product design requirements, implementing changes via the engineering change management (ECM) system.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, firmware, and senior engineers, to enhance system performance.

• Support Operations by implementing solutions through Change Management Control and acting as the SME for stakeholders.

About you

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics, with 3-5 years of experience.

• Experience in electronic product development, including device control, communications, HMIs, and displays.

• Proficiency in PCBA hardware design, ALTIUM, LTSPICE, and project planning tools (JIRA).

• Experience with power conversion, high-power/current systems, and precision electronics.

• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA/DFS principles and design/process FMEA applications.

• Knowledge of EMC design requirements, testing standards, and compliance documentation.

• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, and MATLAB.

• Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work independently or cross-functionally under pressure.

Highly Desirable:

• Project engineering experience with strong ownership and proficiency in project planning tools (JIRA, MS Project).

• Expertise in EMC testing, firmware development for 32-bit ARM microcontrollers, and power electronics (rectifier circuits, IGBT, MOSFET).

• Skilled in mechanical design, CAD/PLM tools (SolidWorks, Windchill), and drafting standards (AS 1100, GD&T).

• Experience in power systems documentation, site installation, and designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling for manufacturability.
