Assistant Operations Officer, Disaster Relief Grant team (DRG)
Grade 5/6 with the base salary for this role starting at $97,027 base plus superannuation
Employment Type: Temp till 31/12/2025
Location: We operate across several locations, Parramatta, Gosford, Maitland and Wollongong. In-office presence is required three days a week, with some flexible working arrangements.
This role sits within the Taxes and Grants Division in the Disaster Relief Grant team
About the team
The Disaster Relief team is part of the Taxes & Grants division within Revenue NSW. We play a crucial role in assisting the NSW Reconstruction Authority with processing Disaster Relief Grants (DRG). These grants provide financial support to individuals and families who are most in need particularly low-income earners, helping them restore their homes to a safe and habitable condition after a natural disaster. DRG assistance is available to eligible applicants whose damages are not covered by insurance, alleviating personal hardship and distress caused by disasters across NSW.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Assess complex matters and provide guideline and procedural advice to clients and staff, ensuring compliance with program obligations
- Coach and develop staff by providing technical, system and procedural guidance to ensure consistency and accuracy in the administration of guidelines
- Conduct regular quality assurance reviews within the team to identify training needs and maintain a high standard of accuracy
- Allocate and monitor team workloads to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery
- Manage and prioritise multiple responsibilities in a high-volume work environment, ensuring business outcomes are met
- Conduct research, investigations and audits to detect and address non-compliance and potentially fraudulent activities.
- Commitment to continuous improvement by driving innovation and contributing to process enhancements to support evolving business needs
