The team are acting on climate by supporting our customers to adapt to a low carbon economy and reducing the impact of the Bank’s operations are key to this success. Success for the IR and ESG team is to drive positive outcomes while engaging with active and potential shareholders which align to BEN’s business strategy.
The Sustainability Specialist role is responsible for project managing specific sustainability initiatives within BEN, ensuring alignment to the Bank’s ESG & Sustainability Business Plan. You’ll make an impact by:
- Coordinating the Bank’s approach to Modern Slavery including managing the Modern Slavery Roadmap and annual disclosure, support governance of overall sustainability reporting suite
- Coordinating sustainability communications, developing and implementing the Bank’s sustainability policy/position approach,
- Contributing to the development of sustainability governance assets, participating in external forums and memberships,
- Bringing the outside into BEN and implementing key sustainability projects as required
- Being pragmatic, considering and addressing BEN’s sustainability-related risks and opportunities, while working with our internal stakeholders to support delivery and meet investor expectations.
- Supporting specified divisions in the delivery of the broader ESG & Sustainability Business Plan, partnering on sustainability initiatives (including Modern Slavery), conducting research to support the division, sourcing inputs into reporting and tactical implementation of the ESG & Sustainability Communications and Capability Plan

This is a permanent full-time position that can be based our Melbourne, Bendigo, Sydney or Brisbane Offices. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, and a hybrid model of minimum two days per week in the office, increasing to 60% in July 2025.
What you’ll bring to the role- Experience in engaging with international and national sustainability reporting standards and modern slavery
- Project management expertise
- High quality written and spoken communications
- Attention to detail
- Ability to dive into new concepts, interpret and contextualise for BEN quickly
- Ability to deliver high quality work at pace
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Commerce, Law, Public Policy).
