Join our dynamic team at Southern Grampians Shire Council, where we are committed to fostering sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for our community. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Planning Coordinator to lead and support our planning functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support all operations of Council’s planning functions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations in all planning activities.
- Oversee the documentation, flowcharting, and development of processes within the Planning Unit.
- Deliver both statutory and strategic planning functions to support Council’s objectives and policies, including the development of 3–5-year workplans.
- Provide high-quality advice on statutory and strategic planning matters to Council, the community, and the executive team.
- Perform duties of a Planning Coordinator within the framework of Council policies and delegated authority.
- Integrate planning functions with Council’s Plan.
- Represent Council on various planning matters, including agency networks, community meetings, Planning Panels Victoria, and VCAT.
- Ensure a high-quality customer service experience by fostering a culture of excellence.
- Develop and provide clear information to explain regulatory requirements of planning legislation.
- Maintain and provide statistical planning data
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Statutory or Strategic Planning, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in statutory and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of Victorian planning legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
- Experience in providing high-quality customer service.

Relevant tertiary qualifications (a degree in Town and Regional Planning or equivalent recognised qualification)
Demonstrated experience with strategic, statutory and heritage planning as well as VCAT, Planning Panels Victoria (or equivalent), planning infringement and Local Government planning processes
Relevant experience in a supervisory position with demonstrated professional training and experience in personnel management, budget preparation and maintenance of administrative and financial system.
A current Victorian Drivers Licence
