About Paluma Environmental Education Centre

The Paluma Environmental Education Centre is nestled amongst the lush, tropical rainforests of the Paluma Range National Park in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Situated approximately 80km north of Townsville, the Centre is the perfect base for an exposure to one of nature's most delicate and diverse ecosystems.

Our programs and learning experiences are designed to support student learning across the Australian Curriculum, and are delivered through a range of approaches, both on-site and at other locations.

Your Role

Responsibilities

As Unit Support Officer at Paluma Environmental Education Centre, you will work as part of a team to provide educational experiences to students from the North Queensland Region and beyond. Your creativity and flexibility, along with a commitment to sustainability, will support your success in this varied role, where responsibilities may include:

  • Maintenance and improvement of grounds, facilities and equipment;
  • Preparation and maintenance of teaching materials;
  • Assisting centre teaching staff with the delivery of education programs to students;
  • Contributing to the administration of the centre, including general administrative duties, greeting and monitoring visitors and contractors, and participating in departmental procedures around the management of visiting groups, equipment, facilities and grounds; and
  • Other tasks as described in the Role Description, or as directed by the Principal or their delegate.


Subsidised local housing may be available to the successful candidate, pending availability and determination of eligibility in line with departmental housing policy and procedure.
