Network Engineer – NSW Government- Location: Flexible + WFH (hybrid)
- Pay Rate: $688 per day + Super
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week – requires flexibility for after-hours work during rollouts
- Assignment Length: Anticipated until 30th June 2025 with potential to extend based on funding
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a major Wi-Fi switching refresh across 150+ sites. With 40 sites being upgraded currently, an additional resource is required to assist the project team with network administration, engineering support & quality assurance tasks.
The role is more network administration-focused than pure engineering and requires someone with strong large-scale enterprise experience, preferably within the education sector.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the rollout of a Wi-Fi switching refresh across various sites
- Conduct desktop work, tabletop exercises & network administration
- Support network engineering tasks, including diagnostics, troubleshooting & vendor management
- Perform pre-cutover site assessments to identify & resolve defects before cutovers
- Travel to sites as required (department hire cares available for work-related travel)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Wi-Fi networking with proficiency in enterprise networking stacks (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba)
- Demonstrated experience with SD-WAN solutions (Fortinet, Palo Alto preferred) , structured cabling (ethernet & fibre) , network architecture & troubleshooting
- Previous experience in a large organisation (education sector experience highly regarded)
- Strong vendor management skills to liaise with outsourced project teams
- Must be immediately available
