Role OverviewAs the Head of Credit, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the credit function, ensuring prudent risk management while supporting the business’s ambitious growth strategy. You will work closely with the executive team, credit analysts, brokers, and external stakeholders to drive best-in-class lending decisions, optimise credit policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.This is a high-impact leadership role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for someone with strong credit risk expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commercial mindset.
Key ResponsibilitiesCredit & Risk Management Lead and oversee the end-to-end credit assessment process, ensuring sound risk management while enabling business growth. Set and maintain credit policies, risk frameworks, and lending criteria in line with regulatory requirements and business objectives. ⚖️ Conduct complex credit risk assessments on high-value loan applications, ensuring well-informed lending decisions. ✅ Ensure strict compliance with AFSL (Australian Financial Services License) obligations, internal policies, and regulatory standards.
Leadership & Strategy Develop and execute a scalable credit strategy to support Archer Wealth’s expansion goals. Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing credit team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Work closely with the MD and executive team to align credit policies with the company’s long-term vision. Drive continuous improvement in credit processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance decision-making.
Stakeholder Management Engage with brokers, investors, solicitors, and internal teams to streamline the credit process and enhance business relationships. Provide regular reporting and insights to senior management, highlighting portfolio performance and risk exposure. Represent Archer Wealth at industry events and forums, strengthening relationships with key external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (Postgraduate/MBA preferred). 5+ years of experience in credit risk, lending, or financial services, preferably within private lending, banking, or non-bank sectors. Proven experience leading a credit function in a high-growth or private lending environment. Strong knowledge of real estate-backed lending, AFSL compliance, and Australian credit regulations. Deep expertise in risk assessment, credit structuring, and portfolio management. ️ Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. ‍ Ability to drive automation and digital transformation within the credit function.
