Chatswood Public School has an enrolment of 1063 students, with 93% of our students from non-English speaking backgrounds, representing a wide variety of cultural groups, primarily Chinese, Korean, and Indian. Our school values and promotes inclusivity, with a strong emphasis on celebrating the cultural and linguistic diversity within our community. Students have the opportunity to engage in Chinese and Korean community language programs, further strengthening their connection to language and culture. The school delivers quality learning programs that address the diverse needs of all learners, including two opportunity classes for gifted students, Korean Bilingual classes, and an Inclusive Hub with one multi-categorical and two autism support classes. Our teaching and learning programs incorporate modelled, guided, and independent instruction, ensuring that students receive the explicit support they need at every stage of their learning journey. A strong focus on explicit teaching in literacy and numeracy underpins classroom practice across the school.
Selection Criteria- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a deep understanding of the Strategic Improvement Plan and the ability to lead school evaluation, strategic planning, and data analysis to improve student outcomes.
- Proven ability to navigate the operations and complexities of a large, dynamic school environment, ensuring the effective implementation of strategic priorities, resource management, and operational efficiencies that enhance student learning and staff performance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, mentor, and support staff in a culture of continuous improvement, fostering collaboration and building high-functioning teams that deliver quality teaching and wellbeing programs.
- A highly visible, approachable, and collaborative leader with a strong commitment to strengthening partnerships with staff, parents, and the wider school community to foster a positive school culture and improve educational outcomes.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
