The Role
The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a Civil Operations Employee to perform maintenance and construction duties as directed by the Supervisor Civil Operations and/or the Manager Civil Assets and Operations to ensure that Council assets are maintained to Council standards. The secondary function of this role is to support the Open Spaces team with operational duties as directed.
Key Objectives Include:
- Construction of Council infrastructure including general civil groundwork, line marking, street signage and furniture installations, installation of bollards & fencing, cleaning & patching drainage pits, basic concreting or asphalting skills, Pothole repairs and general labouring duties.
- Undertake other general manual tasks using hand tools, including the operation of small plant items, for the minor construction and/or maintenance of assets as directed.
- Footpath and road verge maintenance and repairs including minor construction
- Maintenance on Jetties, boat ramps, and other coastal infrastructure
- Painting and varnishing of Council infrastructure
- Rubbish removal, general cleaning and graffiti removal
- Provide support to the Open Spaces team when required, including but not limited to mowing, pruning and weed control or general tasks as directed
- Strong technical skills with an ability to diagnose and repair
- Work with external contractors and service providers
- Assist in completing plant and equipment inspections within required timeframes
- Conduct preventative maintenance on plant and equipment as required.
- Actively participating in training and WHS programs as required.
- Taking reasonable care to protect their own safety and the health and safety of others
- Following reasonable instruction on health and safety and injury management
- Reporting of incidents, near miss, injuries, property damage and identified hazards
- Work in accordance with Councils policies, procedures, processes and specifications.
- Identify parts requirements as necessary and receipt of parts for maintenance as required
- Assist in maintaining all Council Plant and Equipment as required

- Salary $73,238 per annum
- Additional 3% superannuation above standard superannuation guarantee of 11.5%

About You:
To be successful in this role you should have your articulated loader ticket, backhoe/excavator ticket (or willingness to obtain), as well as your class MR drivers licence. You should have demonstrated experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment as well as having your ticket in workzone traffic management. The successful applicant will take direction well, be willing to learn and be a good team player.
