The Role

We are revolutionising mental health care in our new state-of-the-art facilities by empowering recovery through a holistic and community integrated mental health care model.

At Aegis Health, our integrative mental health services are dedicated to providing diverse treatment options and personalised care that empowers each individual on their path to recovery. Our innovative service features are designed to help patients take those crucial first steps towards wellness, but also to support their ongoing wellbeing and promote a sustainable recovery.

Our mission is to provide wrap-around and human-centred mental health care that meets people where they are at in their recovery journey, at the right time, no matter what stage of healing they’re in.

We are looking for several passionate and innovative allied health professionals to join our interdisciplinary team who share our vision for a new kind of mental health care:

  • Mental health occupational therapists
  • Clinical or registered psychologists
  • Mental health social workers

Our approach.

· An interdisciplinary care team consisting of psychiatrists, nurses and allied health professionals.

· Close-to-life mental health care that is embedded in facilities within the Murdoch Square mixed-use precinct, allowing patients access to remain connected to their support network.

· An enactive model of mental health care acknowledges that patients actively shape their well-being

· Care coordination services undertaken by the most appropriate clinician in a patient’s interdisciplinary team. These services include case management and psychosocial support, transitions in care and post-discharge. Care coordination aims to improve mental health outcomes, support recovery and reduce hospital readmissions.

· A graduated care pathway that offers a diverse range lower and higher intensity treatment options and support.

· Risk streaming and management to match the right care to patients at the right time.

· A diverse range of innovative and evidence-based group programs available through the Aegis Health Clinic and Aegis Health Day Clinic.

· Group programs for caregivers, families and supporters of patients through the Aegis Health Day Clinic.

· Practising community-integrated psychosocial care and use of community-based partnerships to enhance outcomes and continuity of care.

Ultimately, Aegis Health is committed to creating an accessible and responsive mental health care system that fosters sustained recovery, resilience, independence and wellbeing beyond the hospital walls.

Facilities.

Aegis Health Clinic

The Aegis Health Clinic is a 36-bed inpatient mental health unit situated within Aegis Health Private Hospital.

This facility offers overnight admissions for patients requiring higher intensity treatment and care in a controlled and supported environment.

It includes comprehensive interdisciplinary care coordination services and access to variety of group therapy programs designed to stabilise mental health, reduce distress, impart fundamental recovery knowledge and skills, enhance daily functioning and provide the initial building blocks for sustained recovery when returning to home.

Aegis Health Day Clinic

The Aegis Health Day Clinic is central to our innovative graduated care pathway and is situated on Level 2 of the private medical suites.

This clinic offers day admissions, group programs and care coordination services aimed at fostering independence, self-efficacy, enhancing function and skill acquisition whilst remaining connected to their daily life and support systems.

Whether adjusting to being discharged from overnight stays, re-engaging in treatment in the community or transitioning at work, the day program format allows members to apply newly learned experiences from the clinic at home and in real-life environments to promote sustained recovery.

Populations.

Our target populations are individuals with mental health conditions or difficulties who require support on a voluntary basis, including those with comorbid alcohol and drug issues. Funding groups are private health members, youth and young adults (16-24 years), workers’ compensation, ICWA, veterans and first responders.

If you’re driven to make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing mental health challenges and pioneer a better mental health care system, here’s what we are looking for in our applicants:

Expertise, experience and a passion for mental health.

For social workers, we are looking for those holding mental health endorsements/accreditations through their respective professional bodies (i.e. OTA and AASW); or those with at least three years of experience working in the mental health sector.

Clinicians with training and/or experience in undertaking group-based or individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is highly desirable.
