ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:

Join the St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) team for a fulfilling and dynamic role as a Surgical Setup Person in our Sterile Stores department at the Fitzroy campus.

This is a part-time/full-time position offering up to 38 hours per week, where you will play a key role in supporting the Operating Theatre and Sterilising Department. You will be responsible for the assembly of surgical consumables and instrumentation for procedures, ensuring everything is prepared and sterilised to the highest standards.

If you are self-directed, have a strong understanding of operating theatre procedures, equipment, and consumables, and bring previous experience in sterilisation or working in an operating suite, this is the perfect opportunity for you. You will collaborate closely with the Operating Theatre, Sterilising, and Supply Departments, contributing directly to the success of our Surgical Services.

ABOUT YOU:
As an outstanding Instrument Technician Surgical Setups, you are a master at working in an Operating Theatre environment, with ability to self-direct and prioritise work tasks based on surgical scheduling and day to day activity.
Your skills will include:

• Strong Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, procedures and the equipment.
• Proficiency in using computer systems and technology to support operations.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Operating Theatre and Supply staff.
• Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and manage product availability challenges.
• Previous experience working in a hospital environment, particularly within the operating suite, is highly desirable. Experience as an orderly is also beneficial.

SVPHM has a duty of care under work health and safety legislation to eliminate and/or control the risk of transmission of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) in healthcare settings.
