About the Role
Responsibilities for the Head of Department Junior Pathways include, but not limited to:
- Lead school processes for improving student engagement and attendance in the junior school
- Lead whole school PBL implementation
- Lead coordination of Year 6 into 7 transition programs
- Analyse behaviour and attendance data identifing areas from improvement to develop and enact strategies that led to imroved student outcomes
- Create and maintain partnerships with teachers, parents, students and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for junior students
- Collaborate with support staff and agencies to improve student engagement in the junior school
- Manage and coordinate student support programs for Year 7,8 and 9 students to meet departmental requirements eg Respectful Relationships
Some of the challenges of this role are ensuring students are engaged in their learning pathway including seeking innovative ways to improve student outcomes.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in leading others. They would be able to work with others in a team. They would be well organised and have good relational qualities to work in a rural town. They would be able to develop strong partnerships with community organisations and have a strong junior school knowledge.

The role will allow the successful candidate to work in the student services support team to develop positive school processes that will assist in continued development of a positive culture. There is a culture of supporting extra-curricular activities in a community with strong sporting, cultural, First Nation and wider community links.
