The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an experienced Senior Service Designer to provide a critical role within Technology Solutions and Data Security.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
Technology Solutions and Data Security focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes.
Technology Solutions and Data Security explores and employs technology to enable the department's business function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and overseas the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex.
About the Role
The Senior Service Designer will be actively involved in the planning and definition of the program portfolio and product outcomes as part of a dynamic Agile program delivery environment. The role will be required to work with a cross functional team of business SMEs, Product Owners, Business Analysts, technical experts, customers and vendors to elicit business requirements, understand the regulatory limitations and opportunities, taking concepts forward to design and implement optimised services.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum of 5 years of service design experience across multiple services, products, and channels; ideally in complex transformation programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of service design process & activities, and significant experience in applying Human-Centred Design, Design Thinking translating concepts into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
- A solid understanding of UI and UX concepts, framing usability, accessibility criteria in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- A solid grasp on planning and conducting user research, user testing, rapid prototyping, whilst working closely with agile cross-discipline leaders to conceive, sketch, prototype and user-test experiences for digital products to deliver optimal user experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate workshops & testing involving a broad range of internal /external stakeholders and clients.
- Hands-on expertise in crafting clear visuals, presentations, and design deliverable artefacts.
- Deep expertise in operating in an Agile environment and embedding Agile practices through the design process.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and designing solutions that guide customer journey and user experience satisfaction, and maintain balance between customers, business, and technology.
- Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
- Appropriate qualifications and certifications, e.g. Design, Human Centred Design, Visual Design, User Experience, Product Design (UI), Agile, Design Thinking, Development and/or Change Management, are highly desirable.
