About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Injury Recovery and Support Services Manager to lead our Workcover and Volunteer compensation programs. You will report to the General Manager of Health, Safety and Wellbeing and manage a specialist team, including Injury Recovery Advisors, and oversee general claims management and more broadly, eligibility assessment, income assessment, injury management, and return-to-work programs. This role also involves engaging with volunteers' employers, treating practitioners, and other key stakeholders. The Manager will be responsible for monitoring compensation outcomes through regular reporting to identify trends and guide better and sustainable recovery outcomes for members.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in influencing government policy with respect to the Volunteer Compensation Scheme (VCS).
- Engage with third-party stakeholders including WorkSafe, insurance agents, and Emergency Management Victoria.
- Provide strategic advice on injury and compensation management to senior management.
- Collaborate with other agencies to benchmark service delivery models.
- Develop programs to mitigate risk and known causes of physical and mental injury.
- Oversee the operation of CFA's Volunteer Compensation Scheme and Workers' Compensation Scheme.
- Manage CFA's injury and claims management program with a member-centric approach.
- Develop service level agreements and prepare budget estimates.
- Manage complex claims and provide reporting and monitoring of scheme performance.
- Develop and manage injury management and return-to-work strategies.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, preferably with an injury and compensation management focus.
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing management and administration of Workers' Compensation schemes.
- Proven track record in leading and developing an injury management scheme in a complex organization.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to provide authoritative, specialist advice to senior management.
- Ability to negotiate and deliver agreed outcomes.

General Requirements:
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check.
- Be prepared to participate in Incident Management support roles.
- Be prepared to work outside normal business hours as required.
