An opportunity for an experienced Head of to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a portfolio of integrated audits. The role requires expertise in emerging technology risks, building strong connections with business audit portfolios, and delivering integrated audits that provide value-added insights. Evolve the function from a resource supplier model to a partnership-driven approach that enhances risk coverage and strengthens audit quality.

  • Support and align with the NAB Finance Strategy to modernise Finance and seek opportunities to drive simplification and process efficiencies.
  • Role based in Australia however open to candidates abroad.
  • Drive innovation in audit practices using data analytics, automation, and continuous monitoring techniques to enhance efficiency and coverage.

In this Head of role, you will

  • Build a team of technically skilled auditors, providing coaching and fostering a high-performance culture focused on professional growth and expertise in emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with business audit teams to identify technology risks embedded in the critical business processes being audited. This requires a basic understanding of emerging technologies (like AI, APIs, microservices, and DevOps), as well as foundational knowledge of cloud infrastructure. The focus is not on deep technical expertise but on recognizing how these technologies influence business risks and ensuring they are effectively audited.
  • Generate meaningful insights from integrated audits by analyzing findings, identifying patterns, and connecting the dots across audits. Translate this information into clear, actionable insights on technology risks to support senior audit leadership and provide valuable input to the Board for informed decision-making.
  • Identify and assess emerging technology risks, including AI governance, operational resilience, and digital transformation impacts.
  • Ensure audits evaluate compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., APRA CPS 234, CPS 230) and adherence to internal risk and control policies.

What you will bring

  • Practical knowledge of technology risks, such as cloud computing, DevOps/CI-CD pipelines, microservices, cybersecurity, and AI risks.
  • Understanding of technology governance, regulatory compliance, and industry frameworks (e.g., APRA CPS 234, CPS 231).
  • Effective in all forms of communications, including ability to interpret and explain results at an executive level.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary audit teams effectively in delivering integrated audits with a collaborative approach.
  • Experience in generating meaningful insights by connecting findings across audits and translating technical details into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Technology audit professional with experience in internal audit, risk management, or technology assurance, with a strong focus on emerging technology risks.
  • Experience auditing financial services or working within the banking and finance sector, with an understanding of industry-specific regulatory and compliance requirements.
