Join Our Team as a Senior Regional Clinical Coder – Contribute to Quality Healthcare Data and Improve Patient Care
Are you a skilled and detail-oriented professional with a passion for translating clinical information into accurate coded data? We are looking for a Senior Regional Clinical Coder to join our team and play a key role in providing high-quality coding services across the Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN). This is your opportunity to contribute to critical hospital operations, supporting research, funding, and improving the quality of patient care.
About the Role:
As a Senior Regional Clinical Coder , you will be responsible for accurately coding clinical information from inpatient and same-day health records using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-AM), the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI), and relevant Australian and South Australian Coding Standards (ACS and SACS). Your work will contribute to essential areas such as statistical analysis, epidemiology, hospital planning, activity-based funding, and the auditing of patient care quality.
You will provide coding services for a diverse range of cases, including acute, sub-acute, mental health, and surgical care across 12 health services within RMCLHN. This role is vital in ensuring that all data complies with the Department for Health and Wellbeing’s (DHW) data requirements. Additionally, you will contribute to internal coding audits, support trainee coders, and assist hospital administration teams with Admitted Care Collections as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
- Satisfactory completion of one of the following Clinical Coding courses:
- HLT50321 Diploma in Clinical Coding
- Advance Coding Course
- Certificate IV in Clinical Classification
- Intermediate Coding Course with competency using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS for a minimum of 3 years’ experience with evidence of recent coding within a hospital setting.
- Competency in ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS 12 th edition coding.
- Recent coding experience within a hospital setting.
- Medical records or other health information services background within a hospital environment.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in data collection, reporting and analysis.
