About the OpportunityHarris Products Group is looking for a full-time Gas and Welding Sales Representative to be based in Wacol, QLD , with responsibilities across Queensland and northern New South Wales .
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is a 50/50 split between internal and external sales , focusing on account management, business development, and technical sales. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing an existing portfolio of key customers and expanding market share
- Engaging with clients through phone, email, and face-to-face meetings
- Conducting live demonstrations and training sessions for distributors and end users
- Providing gas and gas-cutting equipment recommendations and technical support
- Implementing sales strategies to drive business growth
- Performing quotations, invoicing, and administrative sales tasks
- Some interstate travel (quarterly/biannual trips to NSW, occasional long-distance QLD travel)
- Participating in merchandising and promotional activities
Technical knowledge first, sales second! We want someone who understands gas and welding equipment inside out. If you've worked with gas-cutting tools or welding setups, you’ll be able to hit the ground running.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- 5+ years experience in the gas industry, welding, cutting equipment, or industrial sales
- Strong technical knowledge in gas, gas-cutting, and welding equipment
- Ability to engage customers both internally (phone/email) and externally (on-site visits)
- A self-starter mentality with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce)
- A valid driver’s license (travel required)
- Access to a reliable vehicle is essential for success in this role
- A trade background or technical knowledge of gas, welding, heating, and specialty gas products is highly desirable
