About the Role:

We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Specialist Lead in our Waitara/Hornsby locations. Our Domestic Violence and Homelessness program offers early intervention to support young people and families facing trauma or parenting challenges.
As a Specialist Lead, you'll guide a team of 8 Caseworkers in delivering holistic, person-centred support and quality casework practices focused on evidence-based outcomes. This is an ideal role for an experienced and passionate leader ready to make a significant impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading, supervising, and mentoring a team of 8 Caseworkers, including providing clinical supervision.
  • Working with families on issues such as Domestic Violence, Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug misuse, and child safety.
  • Effectively engage and network with other Government and non-government organisations to promote our services and gauge community needs
  • Working within program guidelines that align with the Human Services Outcomes Framework, effectively working with clients on targeted outcomes, and collecting and reporting on outcomes to ensure we meet the needs of the clients and community we serve.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related subject area.
  • Experience leading and supervising a team, with a strong ability to build an effective, engaged team with a positive work culture.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Strong experience or extensive knowledge in Trauma-Informed, Strengths-Based Casework Interventions, and Human-Rights frameworks.
  • Ability to develop family-based interventions that increase child safety.
  • Sound understanding of Family Systems theory and working systemically with families.
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Continual child development research and its application in treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrated networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
