About the role
Your Role:
This is an opportunity to support rural communities by providing financial counselling and guidance to farming families and small agribusinesses experiencing financial hardship. If unqualified, candidates will start as a Financial Capability Worker (FCW) and be supported to complete a Diploma of Financial Counselling to become a fully qualified Rural Financial Counsellor (RFC) .

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma of Financial Counselling (or willingness to enrol and complete within 2 years).
- Experience in finance, agribusiness, business management, or related fields .
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
- Must live in or near Southern Grampians, Northern Grampians, or Ararat Rural City .
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial guidance and business planning support, including succession planning .
- Undertake financial analysis , including cash flow preparation and business planning .
- Assist clients with Farm Household Allowance applications and obligations.
- Help clients access grants and other financial support programs .
- Refer clients to specialist services (e.g., mental health support, legal services, and accountants).
- Engage in community outreach and stakeholder engagement to promote the service.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Attend industry events and training to enhance professional knowledge.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Self-starter with strong autonomy and accountability .
- Strong business and financial acumen , ideally with experience in agriculture, finance, business management, or banking .
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills .
- Strong IT skills , including Microsoft Office, Zoom, and CRM systems .
- Ability to build relationships with rural communities and key stakeholders.
- Willingness to undertake training : If not yet qualified, you will start as an FCW and be supported to complete the Diploma of Financial Counselling within two years.
Remuneration and other information:
Salary $86,000 – 89,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
FTE: 1.0 (negotiable)
Fixed term contract (One year)
Remote (work from home) or from offices in Hamilton
