You will lead and manage the analysis, development and implementation of policy and projects regarding legislative reforms and programs to support the mental health, alcohol, and other drugs service system.

What you'll do
In this role, you will provide expert advice on the Mental Health Act 2016 and related legislation, leading critical legislative amendments and supporting system reform projects. You will deliver strategic advice and reports to the director, department executives, the Minister, and interagency committees on project progress, risks, and policy implementation. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you will facilitate effective communication for successful outcomes. Additionally, you will prepare high-quality correspondence, Cabinet submissions, and reports, representing the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist in meetings to contribute to regulatory development.

About you
We are searching for someone who:
• Demonstrated high level analytical skills including the ability to interpret and analyse policy and legislation, develop solutions to complex problems and provide high quality advice.
• Expert knowledge of the interpretation and requirements of relevant legislation and policy (e.g. the Mental Health Act 2016, the Forensic Disability Act 2011 and the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000) and its complex inter-relationship with government, non-government and private sectors, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
