About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and values-driven Youth Case Manager! You will support young people who are experiencing problematic alcohol and substance use, through their journey of recovery. This support is achieved through the effective case management of young people and working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

This position is reporting to the Program Manager offering full time hours, based in Garbutt, Townsville. Hours of this position are 8am to 4pm – may have some on call all requirements from time to time.

Applicant will be required to work with young youth and adults from ages – 12-25 years old.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 4.

You will successfully

As the Youth Case Manager, you will have the responsibility for the following:

  • Provide effective support to young people who are experiencing problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use and their families, within a Case Management Framework, including advocacy, referral and assessment.
  • Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of AOD interventions and trends.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
  • Assist clients to develop or re-establish appropriate family and social networks.

You will have

  • Degree qualification in social work, youth work or related field– preferred
  • Or Minimum of Diploma level qualifications in community/youth services with extensive experience in Drug and Alcohol – 2-3 years
  • Solid level of experience (minimum 2+ years) in the implementation of case management and systems for disadvantaged and/or complex needs clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with situations and behaviours associated with trauma, mental health and problematic alcohol and other dependent substance use
  • Highly effective planning, organisational, problem solving and evaluation skills
  • QLD Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Card (Blue Card) is mandatory
