About the Role
The Team Leader, Stream (TLS) reports to the Deputy Director and plays a key role in supporting the goals and objectives of RMIT UP Pathways. This position is responsible for leading a team of Foundation Studies Educators, ensuring the delivery of engaging courses that inspire students to take an active role in their learning.
The TLS takes a proactive approach in identifying students at risk, implementing effective intervention strategies, and supporting educators in their application. They also ensure compliance with the ESOS Act and National Code of Practice, particularly in areas such as academic and attendance monitoring. Additionally, the TLS ensures students adhere to RMIT’s student code of conduct.
Managing a team based solely in Melbourne, the TLS oversees work planning, addresses complaints, and leads the operational management of Foundation Studies. They foster a culture of professional development, driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes.
The TLS may also provide expert guidance on strategic initiatives and special projects while supporting the broader operational needs of the Foundation Studies program.

Oversee the educational activities of the Foundation Studies program.

Collaborate with senior representatives, including offshore partners and key stakeholders.

Provide high-level educational leadership, drawing on extensive management and/or teaching expertise.

May carry a teaching load of up to 15 hours per week, with adjusted leadership responsibilities accordingly.
About You
To be successful in this position you will have:
-
Proven experience in a leadership or management role managing/leading teachers within an educational setting.

A recognized degree in a STEM field (such as Mathematics or Science), along with a formal postgraduate qualification in education.

TESOL (English Language Teaching Qualification) is highly regarded for all courses.

A current Working with Children Check and VIT registration.

Extensive experience teaching in a Foundation Studies or senior secondary school environment.

Strong ability to lead, support, and provide guidance to educators.

Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of students from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Ability to work independently as well as to build, lead, and collaborate within cohesive teams.

Strong digital literacy skills.

Experience in a position of responsibility in Foundation Studies or equivalent in a Secondary school or University setting is nice to have.
