Job DescriptionYour New Role
The Senior Manager - EPMO Portfolio and Governance leads Development Victoria's effort to apply fundamental principles of enterprise project management through creation and maintenance of Project Governance and Reporting Frameworks.
The role provides specialist advice on project management principles, governance and standardised project reporting to ensure benefits are realised and investments are prioritised. The role will also support portfolio level reporting to the Senior and Executive Team.
Please note, this is a 12-month maternity leave cover.
The role leads a small group of EPMO Managers that support Development Victoria's Project groups in specific project and program related governance and reporting objectives.
Your responsibilities will involve but not limited to:
- Implement DV’s strategy governing the direction and governance conduct of project, program and portfolio management, including application of appropriate methodologies.
- Ensure portfolio and program management processes and systems are efficient and effective whilst aligned to business needs.
- Lead portfolio analysis, performance monitoring, and comprehensive reporting on project at a portfolio level, consolidating critical information to provide actionable insights for the executive team.
- Portfolio risks and issues monitoring, escalating key risks and issues to the EPMO Director.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure projects comply with the Project Governance and Reporting Framework, escalating major governance gaps to the EPMO Director.
- Drive continuous improvement to the Project Governance and Reporting Framework including regular checks to templates and governance processes.
- Provide secretariat support for key DV Portfolio and Program Governance committees as needed.
- Provide leadership to the EPMO team by modelling DV’s values in all interactions to foster an innovative, customer focused, high performing and values-led organisational culture.
- Promote a safe environment that enables members to flourish and deliver their best work for stakeholders by ensuring team members understand what is expected of them and how it aligns with DV’s objectives.
About You
We are seeking a confident, results-driven Senior Manager with extensive expertise in project governance at the portfolio level, overseeing complex reporting and governance across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent stakeholder management skills,
be adaptable, flexible and take a proactive approach to driving excellence in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience in project management, from conception to delivery and have a broad knowledge of project and program management methodologies.
- Experience in working in a Government Project Management Office.
- A strong knowledge of Project Governance and Reporting Frameworks and processes.
- Proficient in advanced data analysis and presentation, utilizing reporting tools such as Microsoft Office, Tableau and Power BI.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex portfolio governance and reporting insights to senior leadership.
- Experience in dealing with complex and sensitive issues with a high level of discretion and judgement.
- Strong capacity to foster and develop relationships with key stakeholders at senior levels across all sectors of government and industry.
