The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) plays a key role in supporting and assisting with day-to-day operations under the supervision and guidance of the Allied health practitioners.
Permanant Part-time opportunity at VMCH Star of the Sea, Torquay Great culture with fun, friendly team and supportive environment Excellent Not for Profit Salary Packaging Benefits About the role We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated Allied Health Assistant, your focus will be to ensure the facilitation of small group activities and supporting one on one prescribed exercise programs including transportation to the allied health appointments. Working as part of a friendly and cross functional, close-knit team, your focus will be:- Assist in Sessions : Support the Allied health Professionals during individual and group therapy sessions, ensuring that residents are engaged in appropriate activities for their rehabilitation goals. Carry out manual handling tasks as required, including use of ceiling hoists, standing hoist, and Sara Stedy.
- Run Small Activity Groups: Lead and facilitate small activity groups for residents, tailored to their individual physical capabilities and rehabilitation needs, and under the guidance of the physiotherapist. These activities will encourage movement, participation, and social interaction to improve overall well-being.
- Resident Transport: Assist with transporting residents to and from their physiotherapy appointments, ensuring they are safely moved to the required areas and that the physiotherapist has more time for hands-on treatment and therapy planning.
- Administrative Support: Help with any administrative tasks related to physiotherapy, including scheduling, documenting resident progress, and ensuring all equipment is in working order.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Physiotherapist and other healthcare team members to ensure that resident care plans are followed and any changes in resident needs are communicated effectively.
- Resident Care: Provide a high standard of care to all residents, ensuring their safety, dignity, and comfort during all activities.
- Ensure Gym and Equipment is Well-Maintained: Ensure that all gym equipment is maintained in good working order and meets infection control standards to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
- Minimum Cert III Individual Support / Home & Community Care / Aged Care or equivalent
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003)
- Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID001)
- Experience with and passion for working with elderly people and their families
- Knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures consistent with WH&S policies and procedures
- Flexibility and ability to work remotely and autonomously without direct supervision
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence & reliable, roadworthy vehicle suitable for transporting clients with full comprehensive insurance
- Proficiency using mobile devices and ability to access online communication applications e. g. email
