Aspect Personnel have been engaged by a highly regarded Town Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture and Communications private consultancy to recruit an Associate Director Town Planning on a permanent basis.
About the Company
This consultancy provides expert advisory, planning, and management services to property developers and landowners. Their planning team works on a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects across Queensland. They specialise in complex and large-scale developments, as well as projects of state significance and major precinct-based initiatives for industry-leading clients.
They pride themselves on delivering commercially focused and community-positive outcomes through pragmatic advice, tailored strategies, and strong relationships with key decision-makers in State and Local Government.
The Role
The business is seeking a Town Planner with 10+ years of experience in urban planning (with experience in Queensland). The successful candidate will work independently and alongside the directors to provide expert planning services and manage significant projects across various sectors whilst supporting the growth and expertise of the business unit.
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning & Development Advice – Work with clients to understand their objectives and provide tailored planning solutions.
  • Planning Permits & Amendments – Lead the preparation, strategy, and management of planning applications and scheme amendments.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management – Engage with councils, government agencies, and community stakeholders to negotiate outcomes and navigate approvals.
  • Strategic & Commercial Planning – Provide feasibility studies, due diligence, and front-end project management services to maximise commercial returns.
  • Leadership & Mentorship – Support all team members and contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the business.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have a strong background in urban planning (public or private sector) and a relevant university degree.
  • Be commercially focused, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.
  • Thrive in a collaborative team environment, working alongside clients, consultants, and councils.
  • Be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and inspire a high performing team.
