Who is STAR Community Services?

We are an award-winning not-for-profit organisation providing a range of aged care services including Home Care Packages, NDIS and disability support services since 1996. STAR supports the elderly and people with disability to live independently, engage with the wider community and achieve their goals. With the generous support of local community volunteers, we offer a wide range aged care and disability support services to ensure that the vulnerable members of our community can access affordable and reliable services such as Home Care Packages, transport, in-home help, social activities, companionship and more. We are an advocate of inclusive communities where people of all ages and abilities have equal access to opportunities and facilities. Fighting social isolation is a key area of focus for STAR. We regularly organise programs and events to help reduce the growing problem of social isolation amongst the elderly and people with disabilities. We are currently servicing Redlands, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast & Toowoomba areas.

Join Our Team as an Assistant Business Development & Community Officer!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the aged care and disability services sector? We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Business Development & Community Officer to support our mission through effective Fundraising, Community Engagement & Sponsorship Development . If you thrive in a collaborative environment and have a knack for building relationships, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities (Not limited to):

  1. Grants and Awards
  • Research Grant and Award opportunities
  • Apply for Grants and Awards
  • Monitor progress of projects that receive Grants
  • Acquit Grants
  • Build relationships with funding organisations
  • Where necessary, attend stakeholder/networking meetings

2. Sponsor/Community Engagement:

  • Assist in drafting and sending out thank-you letters, acknowledgment certificates, and impact reports to donors and sponsors.
  • Attend events and meetings with sponsors as required, representing the organization in a professional manner.
  • Assist with volunteer coordination.
  • Hands on assistance with events
  • Promote and engage on Social Media

3. Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Business Developer, including preparing reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of sponsorship packages and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor and sponsor interactions, contributions, and engagements in the CRM system.

What will you bring to the role?

Certificate in Event Coordination or Fundraising; OR minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar environment.

  • Willingness to undertake training to successfully fill the position.
  • Experience in Marketing / Events, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in fundraising, event coordination, or a similar administrative role is desirable.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused attitude.
