We specialise in comprehensive product development in robotics, electronics, software, and advanced manufacturing to deliver prototypes and full-scale products across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Our team is passionate about fostering STEM education and develops the Micromelon Robotics line of products for schools around Australia to help teachers and students engage in robotics and programming.
About the RoleWe are seeking a Hardware Engineer with a background in electronics design. In this role, you will engage in the complete product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to manufacturing, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to create state-of-the-art electronic and robotic products, often including mechanical designs, electronics, firmware, software and cloud.
What You’ll DoDesign and Develop:Develop and test custom electronics hardware, including PCBs and embedded systemsDevelop test and production plans to ensure products are built correctly each and every timeAssist in transitioning designs from prototype to production, liaising with manufacturers or overseeing the assembly process in houseWork with clients and our partners to turn their ideas into finished products
Prototype:Develop early stage prototypes and proof of concepts, to quickly prove and disprove product conceptsBuild and evaluate prototypes, iterating designs based on testing and feedback
Collaborate:Work alongside software engineers to ensure seamless system integration from end to endContribute to the development of educational tools and resources aimed at simplifying the teaching of engineering and robotics in schools
What We’re Looking ForEducational Background:Degree or relevant experience in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
Electronics Design Skills:Experience in designing circuits and PCBs for embedded systemsExperience in developing hardware including microcontrollers, power electronics, and wireless communication
Technical Skills:Proficiency in PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium or similar)Proficiency in Version Control (Git or similar)Experience with soldering, debugging, and prototyping hardwareExperience using test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyser, etc)Optional: Experience in 3D design / modellingOptional: Experience in advanced manufacturing techniques (3D Printing, CNC, etc)
Software & Firmware Skills:Proficiency in firmware development (C/C++) is requiredExperience in Unix/Linux and/or Raspberry Pi (Bash, Linux systems)Optional: Experience in Zephyr, FreeRTOS etcOptional: Skills in languages like Python, Rust etc
Attributes:Strong problem-solving and communication skillsAttention to detailMotivation to always be learning and building skillsAny experience working with customers & clients is a plus
