Maritime Operations and Regulatory Capability delivers regulatory assessments and inspections of international vessels to ensure compliance with Australia’s biosecurity requirements. The pathway holds responsibility for administering the Infringement Notice Scheme primarily for infringement notices issued in the airport environment. In addition, the pathway also undertakes a range of enabling services on behalf of the Biosecurity Operations Division including recruitment and workforce planning, learning and development, coaching and regulatory capability and workforce management.
BOD Technical Training is a national team who develop and deliver technical training and the Biosecurity Foundation Program (BFP), implement digital and innovative learning and support building capability as well as assessing competency of Biosecurity Officers within the Biosecurity Operations Division (BOD).
The Job
- Responsibilities and duties of the position include but are not limited to:
- Facilitating formal face to face or virtual technical training and competency-based assessment
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders. Providing constructive and positive feedback to individuals
- Applying adult learning theories in all interactions with officers during training and assessment activities
- Applying and providing specialised biosecurity technical training, operational advice, expertise and knowledge across a range of programs including maritime, mail, travellers, and cargo
- Promoting compliance with departmental work health safety and rehabilitation policies and guidelines and being alert for and reporting risks to WHS
- Promoting and adhering to the APS Values, APS Employment Principles and Code of Conduct
- Fostering a culture of safety, diversity, inclusiveness, positive attendance, and high performance.
What are we looking for
Knowledge and experience The successful applicants will have knowledge and experience in the following:
- Adult learning principles and methodologies using best practices.
- Knowledge of the department’s purpose, objectives, and priorities and how these relate to the work of the division.
- Strong Microsoft office application skills and experience with Learning Management Systems.
- Knowledge of relevant legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision making processes and departmental guidelines and regulations.
- Knowledge of biosecurity regulatory environment and practices, including legislation, compliance principles, and the regulator's role in enforcing standards.
