The Duty Supervisor is responsible for over-seeing the daily operations of the facility including the provision of leadership and direction to staff and customers to meet daily operational demands and to provide high standard recreational opportunities for the Hume City Council community. This position will be based at Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre and Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead all service staff and contractors (Group fitness instructors) in the delivery of high-quality aquatic and recreation opportunities for members, user groups, guests and visitors, and the wider Hume Community; through providing welcoming, inclusive, and safe environments.
- Provide leadership and direction to all staff, to support their performance including coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff for continuous development, and addressing any concerns in performance or conduct appropriately in line with relevant policies, procedures, and guidance from the Hume Leisure Leadership team. This includes routinely communicating with relevant leaders around actions taken ‘on the day’ to support the ongoing performance management of staff.
- Ensuring the facilities are clean, neat, and presentable always, to support a positive customer experience. Any issues should be promptly addressed to ensure they are safe, resolved and reported where required.
- Oversee the coordination of all areas across the facility to ensure smooth customer experiences occur, including appropriate operational set up / pack up for center programs, public and user groups, and ensure areas are appropriately arranged with signage and/or equipment, as required by and inline with relevant procedures and booking allocations.
- Ensure appropriate Aquatic Supervision is always maintained, by ensuring appropriate staffing levels and completing Aquatic Supervision Reviews routinely throughout each shift in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Complete Facility Operational checks and inspections set out in the Daily Duty Supervisor checklists, as per relevant procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain skills and knowledge across all aspects of facility operations by routinely reviewing policies, procedures and relevant documents relating to operations, attending in house training and meetings relevant to Duty Supervisor, Lifeguard and Customer Service areas as a minimum. Attendance at all other team training sessions is encouraged.
- Manage all operational rosters whilst on shift to ensure appropriate service coverage is always maintained and breaks are offered to staff as per shift requirements set out in the Enterprise Agreement.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of all customers whilst using the facility and liaise in a polite, efficient, and supportive manner to encourage a safe and enjoyable environment in line with policies and procedures.
- Address Facility Operational issues in line with relevant procedures and work instructions including reporting issues as appropriate.
- Experience in a supervisory role within a Leisure or Aquatic Facility, or relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the work.
- Knowledge and understanding of departmental and organisational goals and policies.
- Specialist knowledge regarding Aquatic Operations and Supervision requirements.
- Demonstrated organisational skills including the capacity to develop, monitor and continually improve administrative procedures, systems, and reports.
- Ability to gain cooperation and communicate both verbally and in written form with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to relate and resolve problems with customers, facility staff, stakeholders, and other Council departments.
- A demonstrated ability in the provision of quality customer service and effectively meeting the needs and expectations of customers.
- Experience in a supervisory role within a Leisure or Aquatic Facility, or relevant experience and work skills commensurate with the requirements of the work.
- Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
