About the role

Are you a dedicated dentist with a passion for providing specialised care? As a Special Interest Dentist with SA Dental, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality dental care to patients with complex clinical presentations within the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) . In this role, you’ll not only provide expert treatment but also offer clinical leadership and guidance , ensuring that our dental team meets the highest standards of service. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting the Clinical Director in developing clinical practice guidelines to enhance patient care.

Beyond clinical practice, you’ll contribute to the growth and education of future dental professionals , fostering a learning environment that supports skill development across SA Dental. Your leadership will extend to mentoring less experienced clinicians and participating in formal education and training initiatives. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing and participating in the Dentist on-call roster for the Royal Adelaide Hospital , ensuring timely and expert care for patients requiring urgent dental intervention. We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Special Interest Dentist who thrives in a complex clinical environment and is passionate about leadership, collaboration, and delivering high-quality patient care. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong Leadership & Communication Skills – Proven ability to lead teams, solve problems effectively, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Extensive Clinical Experience – Demonstrated expertise in providing complex dental care within your area of special interest, with the ability to work in a demanding specialist setting.
  • Collaborative & Patient-Focused Approach – Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, provide expert guidance, and negotiate treatment solutions that meet patient needs.
  • Commitment to Education & Public Health – Passion for training and mentoring clinicians while upholding public health principles and best practices in oral healthcare.
