The Company

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations (IR) Advisor to support the Human Resources team in navigating industrial reforms and ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws. This role involves reviewing and updating policies and procedures, providing expert guidance on industrial instruments such as Enterprise Agreements, and contributing to fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities include negotiating new Enterprise Agreements, managing implementation plans, advising on union liaison, and enhancing employee engagement. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic and operational insights to support the organization in achieving its goals while maintaining compliance and promoting a productive work environment.

The Role

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the negotiation, development, and implementation of Enterprise Agreements, including preparing proposals, leading negotiations, updating policies, ensuring compliance with industrial laws, harmonizing employee entitlements, and providing strategic advice on union relations and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure proper interpretation, compliance, and effective implementation of Enterprise Agreements, manage salary classifications and benchmarking, review pay rates against awards, support Fair Work matters, and provide guidance to employees and management on industrial instruments.
  • Provide generalist HR advice to operational teams, guide disciplinary and performance management processes, ensure alignment of HR procedures with best practices and legislation, and contribute to HR initiatives as needed.
  • Conduct workplace investigations into sensitive matters such as bullying, harassment, and discrimination, ensuring a fair and transparent process, and implement lessons learned to improve HR and operational practices.

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain positive, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with the Fair Work Act, EEO Act, OSH legislation, and other relevant regulations and industrial instruments.

You will effectively resolve industrial relations matters, provide accurate and reliable HR and IR advice to minimize legal disputes, and actively contribute to initiatives and projects, delivering results within agreed timeframes.

Additionally, you will be a strategic thinker with a creative approach to improving service delivery, demonstrate initiative in refining work processes, and actively participate in projects that support broader People Team activities.

The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while embodying behaviours aligned with the organization's vision and values, will be key to your success.

Selection Criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in HR, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field is required, or progress towards obtaining a relevant qualification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an IR-specific role, with significant expertise in employment law, workplace relations, or employee relations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Employment Relations/Industrial Relations, with in-depth knowledge of employment legislation, National Employment Standards, the Fair Work Act, EEO Act, and WHS legislation, and their application to policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with external stakeholders, including unions, while navigating the broader legislative framework.
