The Team
We are seeking a passionate Paralegal to work across our Personal Injury practice on a permanent, full-time basis from our Perth CBD office, working between hours of Monday - Friday, 8:15am - 5:00pm. Working on a range of personal injury cases, including but not limited to workers compensation, public liability and motor vehicle accident cases, the predominant caseload is focused on medical negligence claims.
Reporting to the Legal Practice Director, you will support a range of litigated matters for claimants that have experienced a variety of personal injuries.
The Role
- Assist solicitors with the day-to-day operations of files/client management.
- Be the first point of contact for clients and answer clients’ enquiries.
- Working with a mixed file load across various personal injury matter types including but not limited to medical negligence, public liability, motor vehicle accident matters and workers compensation.
- Prepare matters for conference and hearing including preparation of court documents, legal documents and general correspondence.
- Draft legal documents such as statements of claim and particulars of damages.
- Brief and liaise with Counsel.
- Correspond, brief and liaise with medical practitioners and other experts.
- Preparing schedules of out-of-pocket expenses and travel expenses.
- Scanning and saving of documents as needed.
- General office duties as required, i.e. ordering and managing stationary/stock.
- Demonstrating a commitment to upholding the firm's core values and behavioural standards.
- Actively contributing to building a positive external profile and brand for the firm as well as strong relationships with the firm’s staff, creating a positive and progressive working environment.
- Previous experience in a law firm (particularly in personal injury litigation) will be highly regarded, but not essential for success.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy including the ability to learn new systems and platforms.
- High level of organisation, time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
- The ability to work 38 hours per week, between the hours of 8:15am – 5pm Monday to Friday, but some flexibility on hours will be considered.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as follow processes and direction from supervisors.
