As an Adviser, Safer Community, you will:

  • Conduct intake, triage, screening and risk assessment of cases, developing solutions within the remit of the Safer Community Team.
  • Organise and lead training and awareness raising activities for students and staff, including provision of workshops and presentations to promote understanding of Safer Community.
  • Deliver effective and efficient advice and referral based on an in-depth understanding of relevant Deakin policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to clarify who requires information, the purpose for which it is required and criteria for success.
  • Engage in process improvement activities and adopt new ideas related to the Safer Community complex case management system and associated reporting.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience in the field of forensic behavioural science, clinical or forensic psychology, counselling, social work, law enforcement, security, law or related disciplines.
  • Experience responding to disclosures of sexual harm, family violence and/or child safety
  • Experience distilling complex information and implementing practical, accessible solutions in a high-pressure or ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated capacity to pay close attention to detail when working in a complex organisation with multiple policies, procedures and operating practices
  • Experience negotiating outcomes with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of others.
