About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to manage UQ’s Queensland Brain Institute (QBI)’s digital communications. As the Senior Officer, Digital and Content Production, you will manage QBI’s social media channels, content creation, editing, monitoring and reporting. You will be comfortable taking direction, working independently, building positive relationships with stakeholders, and translating complex information into engaging content.

In this role, you will work within the broad strategic and operational communications goals for QBI, ensuring an integrated communications and marketing approach. This role is partly funded by the Queensland Brain Injury Collaborative (QBIC), and you will have the opportunity to promote their roadshows.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an innovative social media content plan aligned with QBI’s marketing and communications strategy, and monitoring social media platforms

  • Identifying threats to QBI’s online reputation and implementing mitigation strategies

  • Understanding digital trends to enhance digital brand and reputation

  • Reporting on the effectiveness of QBI’s social media outreach and implementing continuous improvement

  • Compiling “This Week@QBI” internal fortnightly newsletter and QBI’s monthly external newsletter

  • Coordinating video and podcast production, graphic design, photography, website and media activities as required

  • Dual responsibility for management of the QBI Communications inbox, ensuring 24 to 48-hour response time to enquiries.

About You

Essential

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in communications/marketing/digital marketing plus at least 2-3 years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated experience in social media management (including of Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).

  • Demonstrated experience in social media content planning and campaigns.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing content, including an aptitude for translating jargon-heavy and complex information into simple, usable language.

  • Thorough knowledge of social media management, web and project management applications and e-marketing software (such as Vision6).

  • Knowledge of social media and web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • Experience in photography and multimedia production, including video and podcasts.

  • Ability to edit photos and graphics in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Ability to be part of a small, collaborative and busy team environment, and be enthusiastic about juggling competing tasks.

  • High-level organisational skills, strong planning skills, and an ability to set, enforce and meet deadlines among competing priorities and with great attention to detail.

  • Effective interpersonal communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills and the ability to employ those skills to improve work processes and communicate clearly with subject matter experts, technical staff and university stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in video creation and editing (Adobe Premiere Pro).

  • Experience in web technologies, such as Drupal, Shorthand and SharePoint.

  • Graphic design skills.

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher in science or a related area, or a strong interest in and knowledge of science.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including the right to work in Australia.
