Our client, a large complex Queensland Government Department, are currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst for an initial contract until 30/09/2025.
Infrastructure for Learning strategy which identifies 'data driven approach to asset management' as one of the priority actions, the department is seeking to recruit a Business Analyst to deliver a number of key work items.
The Business Group
The department either utilises or is dependent on data from a number of core systems such as SAP Plant Maintenance, Agresso and Centre Information System to make informed decisions.
The availability and quality of data, metadata, documentation, reporting and ICT system functionality is vital for the operation of the department. Given the scale of the department's asset base and the quantum of information used across the organisation to manage all elements of infrastructure asset lifecycle, there is a need to improve data quality, business processes and reporting products.
The Role
The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to determine as-is business processes and develop improvements to existing SQL solutions.
As the Business Analyst, your role will include (but not be limited to):
- Liaise with various stakeholders to determine and document as-is business processes, metadata and functional specifications for solutions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of standards, procedures and processes to promote and maintain high data quality capture, storage and reporting.

- Provide specialist and timely advice on technical issues relating to the capture, storage, reporting and enhancement of facilities information and systems.
- Develop and test SQL solutions to support business processes and high-quality products.
- Support business transition to establish change.
- Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
The ideal applicant will possess the following knowledge, skills, experience and personal attributes:
- More than 5 years experience as a Business Analyst within large complex environments.
- Experience developing and testing SQL solutions to support business processes and high-quality products.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain productive relationships with team members and key stakeholders, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to nontechnical audiences.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within tight timeframes while keeping line supervisor informed of progress and issues.
- Excellent documentation and writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to make decisions regarding requirements and assessing viability of solutions.
