We are seeking a high-energy, inspirational Deputy Head of Finance who is ready to take on a pivotal role in our financial leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a ‘can-do’ leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about motivating and empowering your team to deliver Finance’s vision in support of the Bank’s strategic priorities.

This role will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer. it is a key appointment to achieve our strategic ambition and operational success of Finance’s refreshed service model. Your mission will be to enhance the financial management and forecasting skills of our leaders, drive accountability, and positive financial outcomes.

The successful candidate will be a trusted strategic partner to the Bank’s executive leaders leading Finance’s planning and partnering team, to embed effective financial management capability across the Bank.

Our Deputy Head of Finance will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in financial management and strategic planning. Strong commercial acumen, the ability to build enduring relationships with stakeholders, whilst translating complex financial information into clear insights that influence effective decisions, will be critical. You will be instrumental in driving collaboration, providing expert advice, with the ability to motivate and engage teams. You will have a keen eye for detail and enjoy solving problems whilst ensuring alignment with the Bank’s values and strategic goals.

Your role

  • Oversee and contribute to the effective performance of the Bank and delivery of the Bank strategy through areas of direct responsibility, as well as through cross-department collaboration, advice and support.
  • Lead the delivery of finance services including budget planning, analysis and reporting, and strategic partnering to support delivery of the Bank’s strategic priorities and core objectives.
  • Motivate, foster, and inspire an open and dynamic culture aligned to the Bank’s values, enabling a high-performance environment
  • Foster an environment which supports ongoing improvements to systems and processes, ensuring statutory obligations are met and best practice principles adopted.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and development of team members to effectively achieve team, department, and enterprise outcomes,
  • Deliver proactive and effective communication, encouraging feedback and fostering a culture of openness and trust.
  • Identify and manage risks through effective controls. Oversee appropriate accounting and financial management processes within the Bank’s risk appetite.
  • Enable and recognise workforce performance in a way that encourages high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders and key stakeholders to achieve enterprise outcomes.

Your background

We are seeking a highly motivated and inspiring leader to lead Finance partnering and planning. Your thought leadership and commitment to serving the public interest, combined with strong stakeholder management skills, resilience, leadership and personable nature will help set you up for success in this key senior Bank leadership role. To be successful in this critical role you will have a detailed understanding of the Australian banking landscape, an ability to produce high quality Business -as-usual and project-related deliverables.
