The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.


About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Youth Worker, at our Pooraka. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent, full-time position.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.

You will successfully

  • Provide support to young people in line with Youth Services Model of care and associated Frameworks

  • Establish effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation

  • Provide support to clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice

  • Ongoingly assess the client’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit

  • Ensure clients are assisted to access support services and establish community supports, including referrals to appropriate specialised agencies for counselling, therapeutic and remedial programs and where needed are assisted through advocacy with service providers

  • Maintain that all clients are provided with safe accommodation, on-site supervision, guidance and support across all life domains to assist them successfully transition into independent living

You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)

  • Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field

  • Relevant experience in a social service environment

  • Working with Children Check

  • Psychological Assessment (in line with Children and Young People Safety Act 2017)

  • A national police record check is required

  • First Aid Certificate

  • Through their Eyes (Reporting Abuse and Neglect) Training
